Concept

The 12th EPA Forum theme is inspired by Prof. Andrea Fiorillo’s Roadmap for Better and Personalised Mental Health Care in Europe which lays out the Association’s priorities for the coming years. The event aims to build on important initiatives to further the promotion and harmonisation of mental health care standards through advocacy from patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals, such as the Trilogue of Mental Health. The event is also inspired by policy developments, such as the founding of the first European Parliament Intergroup for Mental Health and the adoption of an EU Comprehensive Approach to Mental Health.

Recent crises have placed a significant burden on the mental health, particularly on those individuals already suffering from mental disorders. Research shows increased levels of anxiety, depression, and loneliness, with their consequent burdens on individuals, families, healthcare systems, economies, and society as a whole. These circumstances provide the impetus for a call to action. Europe needs the constituent communities of the mental health sector, patients, caregivers, psychologists, neurologists, psychiatrists, and policymakers, to come together and set concrete actions including the development of accessible, innovative, and integrated care that fosters whole-person health and well-being for all through public mental health policies.

Moderator

The 12th EPA Forum will be moderated by Julian Beezhold, EPA Secretary General. Dr Beezhold will welcome each speaker onto the stage and facilitate the discussions in each session.
