Important Information Regarding AIFA Procedure:
AIFA (Italian Drug Agency) is the national authority responsible for drugs regulation in Italy. Any pharmaceutical company supporting or participating in a congress in Italy, is subjected to an authorisation by AIFA, according to an Italian Government Decree (Decreto Legislativo 219/06 – art. 124).
Sponsors and exhibitors are responsible for assessing whether their participation in the Congress requires authorization from AIFA. This requirement generally applies to pharmaceutical companies holding a Marketing Authorization (AIC) in Italy or commercializing medicinal products in Italy under an agreement with the Marketing Authorization Holder. For Non-Italian pharmaceutical companies which are not yet registered with AIFA and have no Italian subsidiary/affiliate, the process needs to be started 5 months prior to the Congress.
